DKSH collaborates with SUKA Society to provide children with pre-school education

DKSH Malaysia adopts Kelas Komuniti pre-school in Kuala Rompin, Pahang under SUKA Society's Empowered2Teach program.

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, July 10, 2019 – DKSH, the leading Market Expansion Services provider with a focus on Asia, has adopted Kelas Komuniti pre-school in the indigenous village Kampong Tanam in Kuala Rompin, Pahang under SUKA Society's Empowered2Teach pre-school project.

In addition to a one-year sponsorship of Kelas Komuniti's monthly expenses, DKSH has volunteered to refurbish the 240-square foot pre-school and to run a donation drive in DKSH and DKSH Smollan Field Marketing, by collecting books, clothing, educational games and toys for the pre-school children. Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of DKSH Malaysia, has also participated in this initiative by sponsoring the plumbing works at the pre-school.

Anderson Selvasegaram, Executive Director, SUKA Society, said: “Thanks to the team of committed volunteers from DKSH, our Orang Asli community pre-school in Kuala Rompin is now a more conducive learning environment. We believe that – despite living in a remote and rural area – Orang Asli children should be given all the necessary tools to excel in their education. By partnering with organizations like DKSH, we can gain significant support and resources. It allows us to work hand-in-hand to benefit many marginalized communities in our country. We are excited to continue our partnership with DKSH, as this is just a stepping stone towards future collaborations that will create a positive impact on the Orang Asli children and community.”

By partnering with SUKA Society, we reach out to the communities in remote areas, where education is severely limited. By empowering the indigenous village Kampong Tanam to start their own pre-school classes, we hope that the young children will be adequately prepared with the basic education before they enter primary school in the neighboring town.”

This is the second time that DKSH Malaysia has supported SUKA Society in providing the indigenous community with education. Last year, DKSH Malaysia refurbished a kindergarten in Kampong Sungai Poh in Gopeng, Perak for the learning benefit of 31 children.
