Cambodia, Phnom Penh, March 24, 2023 – DKSH Business Unit Healthcare, a leading partner for healthcare in Asia and beyond, and All Ears Cambodia, a local NGO helping people with hearing problems, have partnered to support Karl Storz in donating high-quality instruments for the treatment of ear diseases to the Calmette Hospital in Cambodia. The donation took place at the hospital in the presence of H.E Prof. Kong Sonya, Vice Director of Calmette Hospital, Thomas Thiebault, Country Manager from Karl Storz, Sin Chanseyha, the representative from All Ears Cambodia, Christophe Debroise, Assistant General Manager, Client Management for Business Unit Healthcare at DKSH Cambodia, and other staff members from the hospital.
Through the donation, we support the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) team at Calmette Hospital to tackle these health issues directly by making a positive and sustainable difference in the quality of life of Cambodian patients suffering from ear disease and hearing loss.
During the donation ceremony, Thomas Thiebault, Country Manager, Karl Storz, stated: “We are delighted to support All Ears Cambodia and Calmette Hospital by donating an instrument set for endoscopic ear surgery. We hope that in doing so, the ENT team at Calmette Hospital will be able to provide the highest quality of care for ear diseases, from diagnostics to surgical treatment, and ultimately provide a long-lasting positive impact on the patient’s quality of life. I appreciate and would like to thank DKSH for their help in coordinating this donation locally and for support on the import and logistics.”
Glyn Vaughan, Director of All Ears Cambodia, mentioned: “The support by Karl Storz and the trusted partner, DKSH, was made in response to a call for help by All Ears Cambodia, which runs Project Advancing Oto-Audiology in cooperation with Calmette Hospital. The 3-year project aims to develop technology and clinical skills in otology and audiology at Phnom Penh’s leading general hospital, including the training of ENT doctors, the provision of diagnostic tools to establish adult and pediatric audiology services, and the development of ear surgery services. I truly appreciate and thank Karl Storz and DKSH for their wonderful support.”
H.E Prof. Kong Sonya, Vice Director of Calmette hospital, said: “We appreciate and would like to thank All Ears Cambodia, Karl Storz, and DKSH for making this effort. This donation will support our healthcare professionals in the ENT department to enrich their knowledge of ear diseases and be able to use high-technology and clinical skills in otology and audiology for treating our local patients.”
Sandeep Tewari, Vice President, Business Unit Healthcare, DKSH Cambodia, commented: “We are very proud to be part of this joint effort to provide Cambodian patients with high-quality medical instruments, which aligns with our purpose of enriching people’s lives.”
