Media release
Bangkok, October 20, 2020 - DKSH, Right To Play and Liverpool F.C. Foundation announced their collaboration to support life skills development through the transformative power of play for children and young people in Thailand. The partnership will kick-off with a program that will provide sports and play-based sessions and establish skills-building initiatives for vulnerable children and young people from urban communities at the rehabilitated Rim Thang Rod Fai Sai Tha Rua recreational space in Bangkok.
DKSH and Right To Play have partnered to create positive change for children and young people for more than 13 years. With the addition of Liverpool F.C. Foundation, the official charity of the world-renowned football club, the communities will benefit from sports and play activities that have been designed and implemented by reputable experts straight from Anfield, not to mention the support from local fans of one of the world's most popular football clubs.
Carl Johan Soderstjerna, Head Country Management, DKSH (Thailand) Limited said: “Having the necessary life skills and enabling learning environments are crucial for future generations to thrive in the workforce and become productive members of society. As an employer with a long history in the country, DKSH is proud to be a part of this meaningful initiative to sustainably improve the future of children and youth and help strengthen the human capital of Thailand.”
“On behalf of Right To Play, I want to thank DKSH for their unwavering commitment to our work in Thailand”, said Kevin Frey, CEO of Right To Play International. “Through our work together, we have seen first-hand the transformational impact we can have on children's lives through play-based learning. We're excited to be expanding our partnership with DKSH and teaming up with our partners at the Liverpool F.C. Foundation to reach even more children in Bangkok and provide safe places where they can play, learn, and develop life skills that will help them now and in the future.”
Matt Parish, LFC Foundation Director, added: “We are delighted to launch our project in Thailand, using the power of sport, play and the appeal of the LFC badge to engage vulnerable children and their communities. As the world's greatest football family, through this partnership we are committed to helping those in need both at home in Liverpool and away in communities like the ones here in Bangkok.”
Over the next three years, the partnership will target 1,000 children and young people as well as 750 community members in Thailand and intend to scale up programming to reach more children and communities. Apart from sports and play-based activities, the program will offer participants engagement with Liverpool Legends, career mentoring from DKSH experts and opportunity to give back to their local communities.
