DKSH Vietnam Continues the Journey of Providing Healthcare for All in Patient Purpose Day 2024, Focusing on Elder Care

For the second consecutive year, DKSH’s Healthcare Business Unit is celebrating Patient Purpose Day 2024 with a series of impactful elder care initiatives across Asia. In Vietnam, DKSH offered an eye care seminar and a free health check-up aiming at supporting the elderly by collaborating with the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association and business partners, including TOPCON Healthcare, ALCON, and Phuong Dong International Eye Center.

Vietnam, October 3, 2024 – DKSH’s Business Unit Healthcare, a strategic healthcare business partner in Asia and beyond, is proud to announce a series of elder care-focused initiatives as part of its second annual Patient Purpose Day 2024. As Patient Purpose Day approaches in Vietnam, DKSH remains committed to its mission of providing "Healthcare for All" by raising awareness and improving eye care for the elderly, making a positive impact in local communities.

Given the rapid aging population in APAC, elder care has emerged as a critical priority. By 2050, one in four individuals in the region is projected to be aged 60 or older. This demographic shift underscores the need to address both the physical and mental health needs faced by older adults. In line with this, DKSH is committed to playing a pivotal role in enhancing the well-being of elderly communities with support from business partners across several markets in Asia – Pacific.

Aligned with the global goals of Patient Purpose Day, DKSH Vietnam addresses the needs of the aging population in eye care. In collaboration with Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association, TOPCON Healthcare, ALCON, and Phuong Dong International Eye Center, more than 700  individuals benefited from activities under the framework of Patient Purpose Day 2024 in Vietnam.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with TOPCON Healthcare, ALCON, and DKSH Vietnam in providing specialized eye care for all, with a focus on the elderly. Through seminars and comprehensive eye examinations with our experts, we are proud to offer 170 attendees improved access to better eye care with Phuong Dong International Eye Center, marking great success in the kick-off event of DKSH’s Patient Purpose Day 2024,” shared Dr. Nguyen Duc Trong, Head of the Refractive Department, Phuong Dong International Eye Center.

To further develop the mission of "Healthcare for All" as part of this year's Patient Purpose Day, DKSH collaborated with the Vietnam Young Physicians' Association to organize a free general health check-up for underprivileged people. The event, held on September 28, 2024, in Bau Bang District, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam, focused especially on the elderly and was supported by local authorities. Over 500 of individuals received comprehensive health consultations from experienced physicians from Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association, as well as eye check-ups conducted by specialists from Phuong Dong International Eye Center. Around 70 DKSH employees volunteered to support the implementation of the event and gave bags of essentials distributed by DKSH's Business Unit Consumer Goods. The activity is a testament to the cooperation of stakeholders to help accelerate a healthier community with DKSH.

Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Chairman of Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association stated: “Driven by the aim of improving people’s health with resources of young Vietnamese physicians, the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association is always willing to cooperate with partners for the shared goal of bringing quality healthcare to people across the country through voluntary examination programs in the communities and medical facilities. We appreciate initiatives like the Patient Purpose Day of DKSH to join forces to reinforce our objective for a healthier Vietnam.”

“As an organization dedicated to enriching people's lives by providing healthcare for all, DKSH Business Unit Healthcare is committed to playing a pivotal role in supporting the demands of the aging population. Thanks to the partnership with leading healthcare providers, we have made a lasting impact on the local community through patient-centric activities. We are looking forward to more opportunities to foster a world where healthcare is accessible to all,” said Ankur Pandey, Vice President, Business Unit Healthcare, DKSH Vietnam.
