This initiative aims to address the significant labor shortages faced by yuzu producers while contributing to sustainable agriculture and revitalizing the local economy. Rising Interest in Japanese Yuzu in the European Market
Kochi Prefecture stands out as a premier yuzu production area in Japan, contributing approximately 51% of the country’s total yuzu output of about 23,000 tons in 2021, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries . The unique flavor and aroma of yuzu have garnered significant attention in the European market, particularly in France, where demand has surged. Reports from JETRO Kochi reveal that yuzu exports from Kochi reached 744 million yen in 2022, marking a remarkable 74.5% increase from the previous year.
Since 2014, DKSH Japan has been exporting high quality yuzu juice and oil sourced from Kochi. In response to the growing demand, DKSH actively exports Japanese yuzu products to the French market.
